High School legend Kevin Boyle directs his Montverde Academy (FL) team from the sidelines.
1. Montverde Academy (FL): 28-0 Montverde Academy takes their second straight National Title by taking down Sagemont (FL), Huntington Prep (WV), and Oak Hill Academy (VA). Ben Simmons and D’Angelo Russell proved to be too much all year and Simmons will look for the 3-peat next year in his senior campaign.
2. Mater Dei (CA): 35-0 Mater Dei does everything it can finishing undefeated in Stanley Johnson’s senior campaign but comes in 2nd in the final poll because they could not participate in the National tournament. Fair or not they will never get a matchup with Montverde Academy (FL) to prove that they are the nations top high school squad.
3. Arsenal Tech (IN): 27-2 Arsenal Tech finishes off Trey Lyles magical senior season with an Indiana state title and quality wins over La Lumiere (IN), and Huntington Prep (WV) twice.
4. Rainier Beach (WA): 29-1 Rainier Beach couldn’t take down short-handed Findlay Prep (NV) but still finish their season with a solid 29-1 mark with quality wins over Whitney Young (IL), Bishop Gorman (NV), and Bishop O’Conell (VA).
5. Oak Hill Academy (VA): 41-4 Oak Hill proved that even in a down year they are a team to be reckoned with as they take down Northside Christian Academy (NC) and Findlay Prep (NV) before coming up short to National champion Montverde Academy (FL).
6. Huntington Prep (WV): 28-5 Huntington Prep gave Montverde (FL) it’s tightest contest but came up just short. Although they lost the game they proved that they are a force and looked like the second best team in the tourny.
7. La Lumiere (IN): 23-3 La Lumiere loses at the buzzer to a tough Huntington Prep team and loses in the first round of the national tournament for the third straight season. They still finish with a strong record and will look to force their hand next year with their juniors getting a year older and becoming a senior laden squad.
8. Whitney Young (IL): 26-5 Whitney Young captured an Illinois State Title with a semifinal win over Stevenson despite a 56 point outburst from Jalen Brunson, followed up by a win over Benet in the state championship showdown.
9. Sagemont (FL): 33-1 Sagemont got a raw deal coming into Dicks Nationals coming in as the 8 seed but they couldn’t overcome a hot Montverde (FL) squad who ran over Sagemont in their journey to the title.
10. Findlay Prep (NV): 31-5 Findlay Prep came into the Dicks Nationals tournament with only 7 healthy players but still pulled an off the upset over previously unbeaten Rainier Beach (WA). They ran out of steam against Oak Hill Academy (VA) but proved themselves worthy of a spot in the final top 10.
11. Bishop Gorman (NV): 30-3 Bishop Gorman finished off their season with a 30-3 mark after a loss to Curie (IL) was reversed due to eligibility issues. Gorman finished their season with a Nevada state title.
12. Northside Christian Academy (NC): 28-2 Northside Christian Academy is rewarded for their one-loss season as they receive the three seed in Dicks Nationals where they were taken down by the eventual tournament runner-up Oak Hill Academy (VA).
13. Paul VI (VA): 31-6 Paul VI finished it’s campaign with an Alhambra Tournament title, Virginia State Title, and WCAC Tournament Title. Playing a tough national schedule Paul VI won’t be going away next year as they only have 1 senior on their roster to end their season.
14. Greater Atlanta Christian (GA): 32-0 GAC finished with an undefeated record and Georgia State Championship.
15. Our Savior New American (NY): 28-3 Our Savior New American just misses the cut for the Dicks Nationals tournament as they finish as the 1st team on the outside looking in.
16. Neumann Goretti (PA): 25-4 Neumann Goretti finish off Ja’Quan Newton’s senior campaign with a Pennsylvania State Title victory in OT over Susquehanna Township. Newton led Goretti with 33.
17. White Station (TN): 26-3 White Station finished off their season with two upset losses however winning the Iolani Classic and making it to the finals of the Bass Pro Shop Tournament are no small feat.
18. Muskegon (MI): 28-0 Muskegon finishes off the season unbeaten and capture a Michigan state title. They are the only team to take down Curie (IL) in regular season play, although it was without Cliff.
19. Apple Valley (MN): 27-2 Apple Valley didn’t finish off Tyus Jones senior campaign with a state title but they still had a solid year finishing with only two losses.
20. Corona Del Sol (AZ): 33-1Corona Del Sol finished off their season with only one loss coming to #12 Findlay Prep (NV) and an Arizona State Title.
21. Callaway (MS): 31-1 Callaway has been led by their superstar junior Malik Newman all year as he finished with an average of 29.4 points per contest and led his squad to a 3rd consecutive state title.
22. Providence (FL): 28-5 Providence, led by Grayson Allen finished off their tough schedule with a loss to #4 Sagemont in the Florida State semifinals.
23. Prime Prep (TX): 17-6 Prime Prep finished off their season just short of a birth in the Dicks National tournament.
24. Orlando Christian Prep (FL): 30-1 Orlando Christian Prep captured a Florida State Title as they finish off their season with only one loss.
25. Bishop O’Dowd (CA): 28-5 Bishop O’Dowd finishes off its season as California state runner ups after losing to Mater Dei in the title game. They will be a tough out next season with Ivan Rabb
